Raquel Vélez
is a senior in mechanical engineering, minoring in control and
dynamical systems. Though originally from New Jersey, she
travels often enough to consider the whole world her home. She
is the project manager for Caltech's new urban search and rescue
robotics team, and has worked on several other robotics projects
at Caltech, JPL, and the University of Duisburg-Essen, Germany.
After graduating, Raquel plans to take a year off to teach math
before pursuing her PhD in either biomechanics or robotics. She
also enjoys socializing, kickboxing, learning new languages
(she's up to 4!), and blending into new cultures.
